First Time at Sweet Water inside Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego
Drive down sixth street towards the Omni Hotel and you will run into the most talked about new venue/hotel in San Diego. A Vegas showstopper - Hard Rock Hotel arrives in San Diego with about as much stigma and popularity as your high school homecoming king. In Vegas, the Hard Rock Hotel is known for the young, attractive, so-cal type crowd - and not to mention "Rehab" at the pool.
As we walked up to the swanky venue I was expecting to meet a snobby VIP host who wouldn't recognize my 'industry' face. However, when we walked up I immediately recognized the bouncer and the VIP host from out and about in San Diego. They approached me kindly and let me in no questions asked. For someone in the industry - I already felt at home in this beautiful new venue.
The place seemed more high end than the Hard Rock in Vegas. You'd have to see photos to know what I'm talking about, but it was very loungy, dark and sexy.
All the right people were there - but there was no dance floor and it seemed like all people could do was talk, drink or sit. Unless you wanted to get up and dance on the bar...
The place is definately worth mentioning and I can't wait to see what Hard Rock has in store for the future, as last night was just a soft opening. The lobby of the hotel is as far as you can go - but it is amazing. Yes, the lobby is amazing. Perhaps the most coveted preview will be that of the pool and "The Vault" a concert venue and nightclub.
The 12-story, 315,000-square-foot property features 420 guest rooms with 17 Rock Star Suites, including one Rock Star Suite designed specifically by the Black Eyed Peas. The hotel has confirmed that the Grammy® award-winning musical group will headline the exclusive opening bash on December 12th.
